A music production team in China can earn more than $10 million per month on a song or two, according to a report from Bloomberg.
The report cited data from an analytics firm called Qoobe that tracks a person’s online income for music production.
The Chinese production team can make up to $20 million per year, based on the median wage of their industry, according the report.
If the Chinese team can generate 50% of their revenue through ad sales, the team earns about $15,000 a month, according Qoobee.
The company said it had no way to quantify the accuracy of the figures.
The data is “not very reliable,” the company said in a statement.
The Qoobo study said it’s possible to make up 20% of your income on song production.
“A typical song can be composed to sell at $50 to $60,” the report said.
“So the company’s analysis suggests that even a small team can earn a fortune from producing songs.”
The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
